RE:	September 2008 Monthly Permit Report

There were 177 building permits issued in September 2008 compared to 209 during the same period a year ago.  Permit valuation and fees generated were also lower in September 2008 than in 2007:

The total number of permits issued year to date continues to be lower than a year ago, down from 1,800 last year to 1,668 this year.  However, total permit valuation and total fees generated have increased over the same period last year:

Permit totals for most categories were lower in September 2008 than a year ago, with the exception of new single-family dwellings; twenty-two (22) permits were issued for new single-family dwellings in September, the highest monthly total for 2008.  This compares to 5 permits issued in September 2007.  The number of single-family permits continues to lag last years pace, 85 year to date for 2008 compared to 123 at this time in 2007.
