RE:	Welding hood installation at the S.W.A.N.

Please include the following item on the City Commission consent agenda for consideration at the December 11, 2012 meeting:

On December 4th, 2012, the City of Lawrence opened two (2) bids for welding hood exhaust system for container maintenance.

Project Description

Project consists of the installation of five (5) ventilated welding stations.  This is a safety improvement for the Solid Waste Maintenance Operations area. Exhaust hoods will be over each welding area; this will remove all fumes from the building. Each unit is a self-contained operation.

Proposal Review

Bids were reviewed by Public Works Department. Building Maintenance and Solid Waste will work together to assure all procedures are followed, in accordance with the contract.

Contract Schedule:

This contract, if accepted, will start as soon as documents are signed by both parties. Work is estimated to be completed by February 1st.

Project Funding:

The Funding will come from the operation budget. 502-3-3515

The following bids were received:

Recommendation:

Based on a thorough review by Public Works Department, we are recommending the selection of McElroy’s Inc.

Action Requested.

Approve and authorize the City Manager to sign a contract to award this project to Industrial Roofing, Bid # B1267, in the amount of $33,000.00.
