RE:	23^rd & Iowa St. Reconstruction Project

Please include the below item on the November 19, 2013 City Commission agenda.

Project Description

On October 8, 2013, the City Commission received an update regarding the above project.

The project is an estimated $3 million dollar improvement to the intersection of 23^rd Street and Iowa which includes street, waterline and landscape improvements (see attached landscape map).  Project plans are being finalized.  KDOT plans to bid the project on February 19, 2014.

Various property interests are needed on each corner of the intersection in order to construct the improvements.  Appraisals were conducted by Aul Appraisals in August and offer letters were sent to property owners in late August/early September.

On the northeast corner of the intersection, various permanent and temporary easements are needed on three different parcels (see tract map).  All of the tracts are owned by Southwest Properties, LLC.  The property owner has accepted an offer of compensation based on the appraisal, in the amount of $49,200 for the required property interests.

Action Requested

Authorize payment to Southwest Properties, LLC in the amount of $49,200 for required property interests needed for the 23^rd Street and Iowa project.
