Set a Bid Opening Date of October 11, 2016 for Bid No. B1601 – Harper Street, 15th Street to East Glenn Drive and 15th Street, Prospect Avenue to Lindenwood Lane Waterline Replacement, Project UT1514.

 

Executive Summary:

The Harper Street, 15th Street to East Glenn Drive and 15th Street, Prospect Avenue to Lindenwood Lane Waterline Replacement includes the replacement of approximately 2,300 linear feet of 6” cast iron pipe from 1954 and 1,700 linear feet of 8” cast iron pipe from 1956 with 8” PVC waterline.  The project also includes valves, fittings, fire hydrants and other miscellaneous appurtenances for the waterline located along Harper and 15th Street.  The project is scheduled to be completed by July 2017.

 

Professional Engineering Consultants have completed the design and production of construction documents for the project incorporating City and outside review agency comments.  Project documents will be available to prospective bidders by Wednesday, September 21, 2016.

 

A public meeting will be held with affected residents on October 12, 2016 at the East Lawrence Recreation Center to address any concerns related to the project. 

 

During the construction of the waterline on 15th Street, there will be temporary closures of 15th Street and signed detours will be provided for local traffic.  Access to Memorial Cemetery will be maintained at all times. Local traffic on Harper Street will be maintained at all times.  The waterline replacement will require traffic control on Harper Street with the road closed to thru traffic.  There will be temporary traffic restrictions at various locations along the length of the project to accommodate construction equipment and ensure a safe working environment for the contractor and the public.
