Amber Sellers is a Kansas native, born and raised in Wichita. She lived in Lawrence from 1999 until 2008, receiving her bachelor’s degree in sports science and master’s degree in health education from the University of Kansas. In 2018, Sellers completed her master’s degree in public administration from the University of Missouri- Kansas City, moving back to Lawrence in 2019. Amber has professional experience in early childhood care and education, community health, public policy, and legislative affairs. Amber is the Advocacy Director for Trust Women Foundation.
Prior to being elected to the City Commission, she served on the Human Relations Commission from 2020-2021. Her civic and social service involvement includes The Black Women's Agenda, Inc., Kansas Birth Equity Network Advisory Board, League of Women Voters, and NAACP. Sellers is an active member of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Incorporated, a Historical Black Greek Letter Organization.
