Mike Amyx is a lifelong resident of Lawrence, KS.

At 52 years old, he and wife Marilyn have one son, Chris

Commissioner Amyx is owner of Amyx Barber Shop, Inc., a family owned and operated business since 1942.

Member Kansas Board of Barbering (term ends 4/30/2006). His previous experience includes terms as Lawrence City Commissioner 1983-1988, Lawrence Mayor 1985-86, 1987-88, Douglas County Commissioner 1988-1993, Chairman, Douglas County Commission 1989-90, and Chairman, Kansas Board of Barbering 1996-1996
