Operations Division
The largest division within the department is the Operations Division, which is responsible for emergency medical services county wide, fire suppression within the city limits, and mitigation of hazards, special teams and rescue activities.
The Operations Division is comprised of three shifts (X, Y, and Z Shifts) of firefighters who work an alternating schedule of 24-hours shifts. (2008 Shift Calendar - PDF, 46 KB); (2009 Shift Calendar - PDF, 377 KB)
Each shift is supervised by a Division Chief who
is responsible for the emergency and administrative activities of all members assigned to his/her respective shift.
