Chapter 16 – Environment (CPA-2008-07)

The Comprehensive Plans Committee (CPC), in conjunction with Planning Staff has been working through a process to draft a new chapter in Horizon 2020 concerning environmental issues. Stakeholders and the public will be asked to participate in the process throughout the development of the chapter. A project timeline, as well as meeting notes and draft language can be found below.

The Planning Commission voted to approve (vote 8-1-1) the proposed chapter at their August 23rd, 2010 meeting. The Lawrence City Commission and the Douglas County Board of County Commissioners held a joint study session on March 8th, 2011 to discuss the proposed chapter. The Douglas County Board of County Commissioners held a meeting on the proposed chapter on April 13, 2011 and voted 2-1 to approve the chapter. The Lawrence City Commission will consider the proposed chapter at their June 7th, 2011 meeting to be held at 6:35pm in the City Commission Room.
