Renters

A deposit of $40 is required for residential renters. In the event the account becomes delinquent, an additional deposit equal to the average of two monthly bills will be required. This entire deposit will be added to the next bill.

Deposits are returned, with interest, after 18 months of continuous on-time payment. The interest rate is set by the Kansas Corporation Commission.

Homeowners

Homeowners are required to pay a deposit equal to the average of two monthly bills if their water is disconnected two or more times in a 12-month period for non-payment. This deposit will be added to the next bill.

Deposits are returned, with interest, after 18 months of continuous on-time payment. The interest rate is set by the Kansas Corporation Commission.

Commercial and Industrial

Commercial and industrial accounts are charged a deposit equal to twice the monthly bill of a similar business. Deposits on commercial and industrial accounts are either paid when service is established or with the first bill.

Deposits are returned, with interest, after 36 months of continuous on-time payment. The interest rate is set by the Kansas Corporation Commission.

Late and Reconnection Fees

Utility bills are due on the date given on the billing statement. Payments must be received in the Utility Billing office by 5:00 p.m. to avoid late or reconnection fees. Anything received and processed after this date is considered past due, and a two percent late charge is assessed on the account.

Water service is subject to disconnection 20 days after the bill is due. Once water has been disconnected, restoring service includes paying all past due bills, reconnection fees, and unpaid deposits. A $25 trip charge is applied to your account if a collection-related trip is made to your residence/business; if the water is turned off, the reconnection charge is an additional $25.

Bad Checks

Checks returned for any reason are subject to late penalties plus an additional $25 bad check fee.
