City band summer concert series continues tomorrow night, brown bag Thursday

Lawrence Parks and Recreation Department summer concert series continues this week.

Lawrence City Band will continue its summer concert series 8 p.m. Wednesday, June 14, at the William Kelly Bandstand in historic South Park, 1141 Massachusetts St. The concert is free and open to the public. This week’s theme is Up and Down the River. In the event of inclement weather, the concert will be moved to Murphy Hall, Room 130, on the University of Kansas campus.

The Brown Bag Concert Series will also continue this week with a performance by the band Kim and the Quake. It gets underway at noon Thursday, June 8, in front of U.S. Bank, 900 Massachusetts St, in the heart of Downtown Lawrence. In the event of inclement weather, the concert will be held at Watkins Community Museum, 1047 Massachusetts St.

Both of these concerts are free and open to the public.

Sponsored by Lawrence Parks and Recreation and the Rice Foundation, the Lawrence City Band performs for an hour every Wednesday night through July 19 at South Park. The Brown Bag Concert Series is sponsored by Parks and Recreation and Downtown Lawrence, Inc.
