City offices closed, service alterations set for July 4th holiday

All city offices will be closed on Tuesday, July 4.

No changes are planned in the solid waste route schedules. Residential trash, recycling, and yard waste collection service will run as usual on Tuesday, July 4th. Commercial pick-ups will also run as usual.

There will be no transit service on Tuesday, July 4. Both fixed route and paratransit buses will not operate. Regular service will resume on Wednesday, July 5.

To report a water or sewer emergency after business hours or during weekends and holidays, contact the Utilities Department at (785) 832-7800.

The Lawrence Police Records Office will be closed on Tuesday, July 4.

Parking at meters and parking garages in downtown Lawrence will be free on Tuesday, July 4.

All recreation facilities will be closed on Tuesday, July 4. The facilities that will be closed include: Holcom Park Recreation Center, 2700 W. 27th St.; the Community Building, 115 W. 11th St., East Lawrence Recreation Center, 1245 E. 15th St. and Sports Pavilion Lawrence, 100 Rock Chalk Lane. All facilities will reopen with regular hours on Wednesday, July 5.

The Parks and Recreation Administrative Office in South Park, 1141 Massachusetts St. and the cemeteries office will be closed Tuesday, July 4. The Administrative Office will reopen 8 a.m. Wednesday, July 5.

Prairie Park Nature Center, 2730 Harper St., will be closed on the holiday, reopening on Wednesday, July 5, with regular hours.

Unified Day Camp will not be held Monday-Tuesday, July 3-4. Coffeehouse, usually held the first Monday of the month will be held on Monday, July 10.

There will be no recreation classes held Tuesday, July 4. This includes all fitness, dance, gymnastics, martial arts and tennis classes. Classes will resume as scheduled Wednesday, July 5.

Summer Playgrounds (Neighborhood Drop-In Program) will not be held Monday-Tuesday, July 3-4, and will resume on Wednesday, July 5. There will be no lifelong recreation fitness classes held Monday-Tuesday, July 3-4.

No adult sports league games are scheduled for Saturday-Tuesday, July 1-4. Youth sports league games will not be held Monday-Tuesday, July 3-4. All youth and adult sports will resume on Wednesday, July 5.

There will be no aquatic fitness or instructional aquatic classes held Tuesday, July 4.

Eagle Bend Golf Course and Learning Center, 1250 E. 902 Rd., will be open and is accepting tee times online or by phone, (785) 748-0600.

The Aquatic Division will have altered hours for the holiday. The Indoor Aquatic Center, 4706 Overland Drive, on Tuesday, July 4, will feature lap swimming from 9 a.m.-6:45 p.m. The leisure pool, zero-depth area, slide and diving well will be open 1-6:45 p.m. The Outdoor Aquatic Center, 727 Kentucky St., will have lap swimming 10 a.m.-6:45 p.m. and the leisure pool, zero-depth area, slide and diving boards will be open from 1-6:45 p.m.

South Park Wading Pool, 1131 Massachusetts St., will be closed on Tuesday, July 4, and will reopen Wednesday, July 5, on its regular schedule.
