LPRD releases upcoming annual volunteer flower and tree planting dates

Lawrence Parks and Recreation Department is preparing to break out the spring flowers to beautify Lawrence’s parks and public areas. Volunteers can sign up for multiple times, and a wide variety of time slots and days are available.  Businesses and teams may see it as a great team-building project.

Volunteers are needed at all time slots for the following days and locations:

  • 8-11 a.m. Friday, March 23 – Downtown Lawrence, 9th and Massachusetts
  • 8-11 a.m. Tuesday, May 1 – Lawrence Union Pacific Depot, 402 N. Second St.
  • 1-3 p.m. Tuesday, May 1 – North Second Street Welcome Sign
  • 8-11 a.m.; 1 – 3 p.m. Wednesday, May 2 – South Park, 1141 Massachusetts St.
  • 8-11 a.m.; 1 – 3 p.m. Thursday, May 3 – South Park
  • 8-11 a.m.  Saturday, May 5 – Downtown Lawrence
  • 8-11 a.m.  Tuesday, May 8 – Lawrence City Hall, 6 Sixth St. and Town Square
  • 8-11 a.m.; 1 – 3 p.m. Wednesday, May 9 – South Park
  • 8-11 a.m.; 1 – 3 p.m. Thursday, May 10 – South Park
  • 8-11 a.m.  Tuesday, May 15 – Downtown Lawrence
  • 9-11 a.m. Wednesday, May 16 – Downtown Lawrence Parking Garage/Butterfly Garden, Vermont Street
  • 8-11 a.m.  Thursday, May 17 – Downtown Lawrence
  • 8-11 a.m.  Thursday, May 24 – Downtown Lawrence

The department is looking for additional people to assist with the plantings. Specific information and meeting location will be provided at the time of sign up. Volunteers must be at least 16 years-old.
