Shelters, park restrooms and fountains opening for season

Kevin PowellCity, Parks & Recreation

Lawrence Parks and Recreation Department will be opening all outdoor shelters and park water fountains and restrooms for the season.

The shelters and restrooms will re-open Sunday, April 15. The restrooms and shelters were closed during the winter months to avoid water freezing in pipes, as well as allowing for general maintenance to be performed on the facilities.

Shelter reservations are currently being accepted at any Parks and Recreation facility for dates no more than one year from the desired reservation date between Sunday, April 15- Tuesday, Oct. 30. There are also several indoor facilities available for year-round rental to accommodate reception, shower and party needs.

Reservations may be made at any of the community recreation centers including the Community Building, 115 West 11th St.; East Lawrence Recreation Center, 1245 East 15th St.; Holcom Park Recreation Center, 2700 West 27th St., Lawrence Indoor Aquatic Center, 4706 Overland Drive, Sports Pavilion Lawrence, 100 Rock Chalk Ln. and the Administrative Office in South Park, 1141 Massachusetts St.
