Jr. NBA Midwest Regional to be held at Sports Pavilion Lawrence

Lawrence Parks and Recreation Department’s Sports Pavilion Lawrence will be the site of the Jr. NBA Midwest Regional Friday-Sunday, June 8-10.

The Jr. NBA Midwest Regional is a 14 years-old and under tournament, showcasing boys and girls teams from across the region, including: Colorado, Iowa, Kansas, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, North Dakota and South Dakota. There are eight U.S. regionals and eight international regionals. The winning boys and girls team from each regional will advance to the Jr. NBA World Championship being held in August at the ESPN Wild World of Sports Complex at Walt Disney Resort, Orlando, Fla.

The regional at the sports pavilion will utilize all eight courts in the sports pavilion and will prevent free play to the public for the duration of the tournament.  However, the other community recreation centers will have additional hours for free play.  Their schedules are as follows:

Community Building, 115 W. 11th St.
Friday, June 8 – 1-9 p.m.
Saturday, June 9 – 10 a.m.-6 p.m.
Sunday, June 10 – noon-6 p.m.

East Lawrence Recreation Center, 1245 E. 15th St.
Friday, June 8 – 4-9 p.m.
Saturday, June 9 – 10 a.m.-6 p.m.
Sunday, June 10 – 2-6 p.m.

Holcom Park Recreation Center, 2700 W. 27th St.
Friday, June 8 – 11 a.m.-9 p.m.
Saturday, June 9 – 1-6 p.m.
Sunday, June 10 – 1-6 p.m.
