FINANCE UTILITY BILLING
STARTING SALARY: $14.62 TO $20.91 PER HOUR DOQ
RESPONSIBILITIES: This is a full-time position that will prepare accounts for billing to include, but not limited to, reviewing usage and investigating unusual fluctuations, calculating adjustments needed on accounts, setting up and maintaining accounts to ensure proper billing. Will respond to and resolve customer inquiries and requests regarding water meter sets, billing due dates, high water consumption, accounts receivable information, credit history, deposit information, and/or any other information the customer may require. Responsible to balance City’s monies daily; input various types of data into the computer database mainframe and perform other related duties to support the department as required.
The position also performs clerical responsibilities in support of the Finance Division. Key functions include providing exceptional customer service to the public, the business community and City personnel; Performing functions characteristic of a file clerk, including data entry and maintenance of electronic and paper databases. The ideal applicant will be highly organized with customer service and file clerk experience in a public sector or business office setting.
QUALIFICATIONS: Equivalent to completion of the twelfth grade. Requires one to three years general office experience with high preference to those with direct utility billing and like customer service environments. Must have good excel skills, effective communication and problem solving skills, as well as the ability to successfully resolve customer complaints. Applicants selected for an interview will be required to pass a typing test at 40WPM and 10-key by touch exercise. The successful candidate must pass the background check and post-offer City physical and drug screen.
