STARTING SALARY: $16.38 TO $23.42 PER HOUR DOQ
RESPONSIBILITIES: This position is responsible for performing a variety of tasks in the provision for downtown, public buildings and right of way landscape services and turf maintenance. Landscape maintenance activities include: planting trees, shrubs and flowers; pruning shrubs and flowers; irrigation maintenance and installation; spraying chemicals such as insecticides or herbicides. Turf maintenance activities including limited mowing, seeding, sodding, fertilizing and renovation of highly maintained turf areas. Assigned to landscape division, this position will provide semi- skilled labor for landscape services for projects and grounds maintenance. Will operate and maintain a variety of mechanical tools such as drills, sprayers, power saws, and equipment such as mowers, tractor, skid loader and trucks. This position will also be responsible for participating in snow removal operations.
QUALIFICATIONS: Equivalent to the completion of the twelfth grade with one to two years of experience required in facility and/or park maintenance. Must have the physical ability to walk, crawl, kneel or stand for prolonged periods of time; perform moderate to heavy moving and lifting, and be subject to continuous physical exertion in extreme hot and cold temperatures. The successful candidate must pass the background check, post-offer City physical and drug screen and have a valid Kansas driver’s license.
