Lawrence Parks and Recreation Department is taking enrollments in a wide variety of youth dance classes, which will begin taking new members for the month of October. These ongoing classes allow for participants to join in to classes on a monthly basis.
Mini Creative Movers combines basic and tumbling skills through creative movement. Dancers ages three years-old to four years-old will develop coordination, body awareness and locomotor skills through fun songs and games. Pint-Size Ballet introduces dancers ages five years-old to seven years-old to basic ballet positions and movements. This class was developed to help dancers improve their coordination, flexibility and self-confidence. Classes are available at two times and locations: 5:15-5:55 p.m. Wednesdays at the Community Building and 9-9:40 a.m. Saturdays at Sports Pavilion Lawrence, 100 Rock Chalk Lane. Rising Ballet introduces dancers ages six years-old to eight years-old to the stretches, large muscle movement and basic barre technique used by ballet dancers. Classes are available at two times and locations: 6-6:45 p.m. Wednesdays at the Community Building and 9:45-10:25 a.m. Saturdays at Sports Pavilion Lawrence. Cost is $34 per class, per month.
