Books and buses team up in October

Kevin PowellCity, Transit

Lawrence Transit System is teaming up again with the Lawrence Public Library to provide a special “Books and Buses” storytime. This collaboration between the library and the transit system will feature stories, crafts, and a real trip on the bus.

Storytime will include books about transportation, followed by a bus-themed craft project. Children and their families are invited to board a Lawrence Transit bus for a short trip around downtown.

“Children are often fascinated when they see buses driving around town,” said Robert Nugent, transit administrator. “Many of the kids will take their first bus trip with us, and we hope it will be a fun experience for them. We are pleased to partner with the library to offer this opportunity for our youngest bus riders.”

Date: Tuesday, Oct. 9 and Friday, Oct. 12
Time: Storytime begins at 10:30. Around 11:00, children and their families will board the bus for a trip around downtown.
Place: Lawrence Public Library, 707 Vermont St. Storytime will be held in the auditorium.
