Walk-tober is walk-over, the days are shorter, fitness continues

Kevin PowellCity, Parks & Recreation

Despite Walk-tober being in the history books, Lawrence Parks and Recreation Department encourages all Lawrence citizens to keep physical activities as part of their daily routine during the cold weather months.

Since daylight saving time started last weekend, the days are getting darker earlier, and LPRD encourages all citizens to review the department’s safety tips while being physically active outside during the early morning and evening hours. Safety tips include:

  • Be aware of your surroundings
  • Jog, hike or bike with a friend
  • Carry a cell phone (if possible)
  • Stay in well-lit areas at night
