Starting Salary:  $16.38 – $23.42 Per Hour
(Starting Salary Typically At Entry-Level of Pay Range)

RESPONSIBILITIES:  This position is under general supervision of the Special Events and Facility Operations Supervisor at Holcom Park Recreation Center.  The Recreation Center Programmer will perform a variety of duties in preparation, organization, and direction of recreational programs such as summer playgrounds, specialty classes, camps, select special events, etc.  Key job duties include programming, basic accounting procedures, facility supervision, supervision of part time staff, conduct trainings and handle registrations.  The Recreation Center Programmer will also provide administrative support for all programs within the division. Other key job duties include developing new recreation programs, recruitment of staff, assisting with payroll and program records.  The Recreation Center Programmer will also provide additional support as needed in the daily operations of the Holcom Park Recreation Center.

QUALIFICATIONS:  Equivalent to three years education towards a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in the area of Parks and Recreation, Sports Management, Physical Education or a related field.  Bachelor’s degree preferred. One year of experience in recreation program development is also preferred.  Requires the ability to work independently with little supervision and directly with the public in a positive and helpful manner.  This position also requires basic typing skills, and operational knowledge of Microsoft Office software (Excel, Word, Access and Outlook).  Possession of or the ability to obtain AED/CPR/First Aid Certification.  Must be at least 18 years of age with a valid driver’s license and capable of operating a City vehicle.  The successful candidate must pass the background check, post-offer City physical and drug screen.
