LPRD offering children LEGO® camps during winter break

Lawrence Parks and Recreation Department, along with Play-Well TEKnologies are offering youth LEGO camps for the winter break.

LEGO® Introduction to STEM will be held 9 a.m.-noon Wednesday-Friday, Dec. 26-29, at the Carnegie Building, 200 W. Ninth St., in the Heritage Room. Camp is open to children five years-old to seven years-old and will introduce them to fundamentals of engineering using the LEGO® building system to construct cities, garbage trucks, catamarans and dinosaurs. LEGO® Construction Vehicle and Machines will be held 9 a.m.- 12 p.m. Wednesday-Friday, Jan. 2-4, at the Carnegie Building. Camp is open to children eight years-old to 12 years-old and will introduce them to real world engineering concepts and vocabulary behind large-scale buildings machines. Machines like steamrollers, bulldozer, wrecking balls and tower cranes will be built and studied.  Costs is $105 per child. To register online, please visit: http://lprd.org/activity?n=121170.

LEGO® Junkyard Challenge will be held 1-4 p.m. Wednesday-Friday, Jan. 2-4, at the Carnegie Building.  Participants, eight years-old to 12 years-old, will learn build and compete in this advanced course with challenges such as: Follow the Hose, Thread the Needle and the Tunnel Challenge using Play-Well’s junkyard, which is a massive collection of thousands of LEGO® parts. It is being held 1-4 p.m. Wednesday-Friday, Jan 2-4 at the Carnegie Building. Cost of the camp is $105 per child.  To register online, please visit: http://lprd.org/activity?n=121171.
