Integrated Holiday Camp brings fun to holiday break for campers

Lawrence Parks and Recreation Department is offering a fully-integrated camp for youth with and without disabilities.

Integrated Holiday Camp invites children ranging from kindergarten ages to 12 years-old and campers 13 years-old to 21 years-old to join in socialization, exercise and integration through scheduled activities, including: bowling, activities at LPRD recreation centers, swimming at the Indoor Aquatic Center, music, dancing, basketball, acting and arts and crafts. Camp activities may also involve in-town filed trips.

Camp is held 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Thursday-Friday, Dec. 27-28, and 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Wednesday-Friday, Jan. 2-4. Both sections of the camp are being held at East Lawrence Recreation Center, 1245 E. 15th St. Cost is $40 for the two-day camp and $60 for the three-day camp. Registration deadline is Thursday, Dec. 20.

The staff-to-child ratio for Integrated Holiday Camp is 1:4. Parents are encouraged to send attendants for children who need additional assistance. This is not a one-on-one experience. Campers will need to bring a sack lunch daily.
