New outdoor fitness equipment installed along Burroughs Creek Trail

Lawrence Parks and Recreation Department’s has completed the installation of four new outdoor fitness equipment pieces located along Burroughs Creek Trail, which is part of the Lawrence Loop and runs from 11th Street to 23rd Street west of Haskell Avenue.

The equipment includes an accessible chest press, located at 900 E. 15th St.; a single elliptical static combo unit at Ward Street; a two-person cross-country ski at 15th Street and a three-person static combo unit at 12th Street and Oregon Street.

Outdoor fitness areas are becoming more and more popular throughout the country as people embrace this new wave of fitness that is keeping residents healthy and active. These outdoor fitness areas offer a chance for people to benefit from getting outside and exercising while also spending time in a park or on a trail.
