Social Media adds other ways to participate in Fitness Bingo Challenge

Kevin PowellCity, Parks & Recreation

With Lawrence Parks and Recreation Department’s Fitness Bingo Challenge, coming up Monday-Sunday, Dec. 17-22, there are other ways to participate through social media.

Besides registering and taking part in the Fitness Bingo Challenge and creating a “bingo” on their player’s card, participants are eligible for additional entries by posting on social media platforms.  Using the hashtag #LPRDBingo or adding a picture of the participant and the instructor with the hashtag #SweatySelfie in their post of a check-in to the facility when they are taking part in the challenge, the individual will receive a second entry into the drawing for prizes when they post on Facebook or Instagram or tweet on Twitter.

At the conclusion of the challenge, prize winners will be drawn during a Facebook live event on the department’s Facebook page, https://www.facebook.com/lprdks.

Fitness Bingo Challenge is open to those 15 years-old and older and allows individuals to participate in multiple free demonstration classes and be registered for a prize drawing, including a free fitness class once a bingo has been achieved through attendance at the demos and registering a “bingo” on the game board. Those wishing to register in the Fitness Bingo Challenge, can do so online at: https://lawks.us/2Ps9cLb  or at any LPRD recreation center, including the Community Building, 115 W. 11th St.; East Lawrence Recreation Center, 1245 East 15th St.; Holcom Park Recreation Center, 2700 W. 27th St. or Sports Pavilion Lawrence, 100 Rock Chalk Lane.  Individuals may also register for the challenge at the Parks and Recreation Administrative Office in South Park, 1141 Massachusetts St.

Once registered, a bingo game board will be issued to the participant to be used during the challenge.  For a complete list of rules, please visit: https://assets.lawrenceks.org/lprd/recreationinstruction/bingo18.pdf.
