Pay Range: $18.35 to $26.23 Per Hour

Responsibilities: The key duties for the Solid Waste Operator I position include operating rear load, ASL/DSL, and hook-lift trucks, as well as other powered equipment used in the collection, recycling, and disposal of commercial and residential solid waste (trash, recyclable materials, and yard waste). The Solid Waste Operator I is also responsible for assisting in routine maintenance of division vehicles, equipment, and facilities. Other key responsibilities include maintaining cleanliness, conducting daily preventive and routine maintenance checks of the assigned vehicles and equipment, and providing leadership on assigned routes.
Qualifications: Requires the ability to work holiday shifts and Saturday shifts as scheduled and the ability to withstand exposure to extreme and variable weather conditions. This position requires the possession of, or the ability to obtain, an appropriate valid Kansas Commercial Driver’s License.
Hours: Primary work schedule will be Monday through Friday, 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. with a half hour lunch break. As work load demands; may work as early as 5:00 a.m. and as late as 5:00 p.m., with some overtime, Saturdays, and holidays required.
