Finance Department
Starting Salary:  $59,240 to $65,164 Annually, D.O.Q.

RESPONSIBILITIES:  This position will perform professional accounting work in the Finance Department, including the preparation of the annual financial report and recording of capital projects and fixed assets, and provide highly complex assistance to the Finance Director. This assistance includes determining need to audit payments made to outside agencies; preparation of materials and documentation for outside auditors; coordinate work of auditors; assist in preparation of final audit report; prepare adjusting entries to state the financial position of the city. Assist with budget analysis duties and be active participant of City budget team. Monitor banking accounts, record documentation for transactions, recommend accounting/budget adjustments, and review/approve purchasing requisitions. Act as liaison to grant-funded operations personnel and assist with grant reporting. Manage the accounting process for fixed assets and capital projects: monitor expenditures, monthly reporting, prepare arbitrage calculations, record project adjustments, acquisitions, dispositions and transfers for fixed assets; monitor fixed assets inventory. Prepare daily and monthly bank reconciliations; develop accounting rules and procedures to be followed by City staff. Other specialty accounting reports, studies, and projects as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:  Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in accounting, business administration, public administration or a related field is required. A Certified Public Accountant (CPA) is preferred. Two years’ experience in professional accounting work, preferably governmental accounting or governmental auditing. Must have possession of, or ability to obtain, a valid driver’s license.
