REMINDER: Earth Day parade, celebration this weekend

The City of Lawrence’s Earth Day celebration will be kicking off this weekend.

Earth Day is fast approaching, and the City of Lawrence is hosting the city celebration 11:30 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday, April 20, in historic South Park, 1141 Massachusetts St. An Earth Day parade, hosted by KU Environs, will begin at 11 a.m., working from Eighth Street and winding down Massachusetts Street to South Park.

The event will host more than 50 educational and interactive exhibits for all ages. Parks and Recreation will be offering tree tours at 12:30 p.m., 1:30 p.m. and 2:30 p.m. Tours will begin in the northeast corner of the park. Westside Yoga will offer free yoga in the park from 12-4 p.m. with sessions beginning every half hour.  Yoga will take place in the southeast corner of the park.  There will also be live music performed at the William Kelly Bandstand and food trucks selling food in the parking lot on the northeast of the park.
