On the Hook: Kids Fishing Derby coming up soon

Lawrence Parks and Recreation Department, in partnership with the Crown Casting Club, Outside for a Better Inside and Walmart, is hosting a fishing derby for anglers ages five years-old to 13 years-old.

The Kids Fishing Derby invites young anglers to test their fishing expertise at Mary’s Lake, 2730 Harper St. Anglers are asked to bring their own fishing poles and bait. A limited number of poles and bait will be on hand for use. Supervision will be provided; however, parents are asked to assist. The derby will be held 8:30 a.m.-noon, Saturday, June 8, with a pre-derby meeting being held at 8:30 a.m. The derby is free and open to the public.

Prizes will be given away in fish categories. Registration forms can be found at: https://assets.lawrenceks.org/lprd/specialevents/kidsfishingderby19.pdf.  Please bring registration forms filled out to save time; however, they may also be filled out onsite.
