Kevin PowellArts & Culture, City

On Friday, May 17, the Kansas Preservation Alliance recognized the Santa Fe Station rehabilitation project with their “Merit Award for Excellence in Rehabilitation.” Each year during their annual Awards for Excellence, the Kansas Preservation Alliance recognizes exemplary efforts in historic preservation across the state of Kansas.

The City of Lawrence was delighted to accept the award along with our project partners, Hernly Associates, and their design team, as well as First Construction, which was the contractor for the project. The Kansas Preservation Alliance also acknowledged the work of Depot Redux for their efforts.

In addition to Santa Fe Station, several other Lawrence-based properties received awards at this year’s ceremony, including:

  • Alchemy Coffee – Merit Award for Excellence in Rehabilitation
  • Belle Wilmont House – Merit Award for Excellent in Rehabilitation
  • Dyche Hall – Medallion Award for Excellence in Preservation
