Lawrence Parks and Recreation Department’s Aquatics Division and the Lawrence Public Library present Bookworms and Waterbugs. The program is free and open to the public.

Bookworms and Waterbugs invites families to enjoy listening to a story in the park, as well as some water-safety tips before heading to the Outdoor Aquatic Center, 727 Kentucky St., for an hour of free swimming. The event will be held 10:30 a.m.-noon Friday, June 21, at Watson Park, 727 Kentucky St., and will end at the Outdoor Aquatic Center. The program is open to children three years-old to eight years-old and a parent/guardian is required to attend with their child.

Everyone is welcome to continue swimming after the event, but standard daily admission rates will apply.

The program will be repeated Friday, July 19.
