At approximately 1:20 a.m. on Wednesday, June 12, Municipal Services & Operations (MSO) field staff identified a water transmission main failure at the 1200 block of New York Street.

Multiple leaks are in the vicinity of New York Street from about 13th to 15th Street. Other parts of the system affected by the leaks go as far south as 19th Street between Learnard and Haskell Avenue. The City issued a release on Wednesday to inform people of the situation and direct traffic around the area.

Work has been ongoing since the discovery and staff are working around the clock to repair the leaks and get the system fully operational as soon as possible. Road closures will continue on Learnard north of 19th Street to Johnson Avenue as well as in the 1200 and 1300 blocks of New York Street.

Twenty-four homes located along 19th Street from Learnard Avenue to Haskell Avenue are without water. As a precaution, staff went door-to-door to communicate with those impacted and they delivered a Drinking Water Warning door hanger. The Warning explains that people in the affected area should boil water for at least three minutes before drinking it or drink bottled water.

This warning is only for the 24 residences in the affected area. Currently, there are no health concerns for residences other than the 24 affected.

Staff will continue working to resolve the situation as quickly as possible and we will share updates as new information arises.
