LPRD striking up Chinese Kung Fu

Lawrence Parks and Recreation Department is currently accepting registration for its fall Chinese Kung Fu class.

Chinese Kung Fu enables students to cultivate close-quarter self-defense skills, striking methods using hands and elbows, body trapping and leg sweeping skills, two-person training drills as well as defenses against weapon and group attacks. Many different kung fu systems will be taught and covered throughout the course. Participants will cultivate enhanced self-defense skills, flexibility, reaction sensitivity as well as health cultivation through qi gung and standing post meditation.

Class is open to those 12 years-old and older and will be offered 7-8 p.m. Tuesdays, Sept. 10-Dec. 10 at East Lawrence Recreation Center, 1245 E. 15th St. Cost is $62 per person.
