Comment on the draft 2020 safety performance measure targets

The Lawrence-Douglas County Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO) is releasing draft targets for the 2020 safety measures. Safety measures include: the number of fatalities and serious injuries, rate of fatalities and serious injuries per 100 million VMT, and the number of non-motorized fatalities & serious injuries.

These annual targets are federally required performance measures under Fixing America’s Surface Transportation Act – FAST Act.

The 15-day public comment period for these draft targets starts on October 11, 2019 and will end on October 25, 2019.

These targets will come before the Lawrence-Douglas County Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO) Policy Board for approval on November 21, 2019.  Following MPO Policy Board approval these targets will be incorporated into Transportation 2040 Appendix F and the FFY19 Transportation Improvement Program (TIP).
