The City of Lawrence Compost Facility, located at 1420 E. 11th Street (east of 11th Street and Haskell Avenue, over the railroad tracks), will be open one final Saturday in 2019 before closing for the winter.

The Compost Facility will be open on Saturday, Dec. 7 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Residents may drop off brush and other yard waste, including leaves, grass clippings, garden waste, and prunings from trees and shrubs. The cost for brush and yard waste drop-off is $5 (cash only) per pickup truck load, more for larger trucks. Residents may also purchase compost or wood chips at the compost facility for $10 (cash only) per pickup truck load, more for larger trucks. Residents should bring a shovel as compost and wood chips must be self-loaded.

Following December 7, the facility will be closed to the public during the winter months. The compost facility will reopen in March 2020.
