West Coast Swing workshop to be held this weekend

Lawrence Parks and Recreation Department is offering the opportunity to learn one today’s hottest dances: the West Coast Swing.

West Coast Swing is a slotted dance done to any style of slow and bluesy music. Both six-count and eight-count movements will be presented. Participants will learn the concepts of compression and stretch. Class will include elements to create a foundation, as well as moves and patterns for great dancing. All levels of experience are welcome.

Class will be held 2-5 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 12, at the Community Building, 115 West 11th St. Cost is $20 per participant. Partner enrollment is required. This class is offered to those ages 15 years-old and older.
