Lawrence Parks and Recreation Department will be removing all decorations placed outside the approved boarder area at Oak Hill Cemetery and Maple Grove Cemetery and those items around the markers in Memorial Park Cemetery beginning Wednesday, June 10.
Items collected will be held for a period of one month for those wishing to pick up items placed around or on grave markers. The cleanup helps keep the cemetery clean and assists with its overall maintenance.
Cemetery rules were reviewed and updated in late-2018 through a series of public meetings. The results of those meetings updated the cleanup process and helped define areas for items wished to place graveside.
The location of the public cemeteries include: Oak Hill Cemetery, 1605 Oak Hill Ave.; Memorial Park Cemetery, 1517 E. 15th St. and Maple Grove Cemetery, 1710 N. Third St.
