Household Hazardous Waste Facility Reuse Store to reopen, Business Hazardous Waste Operations Resume June 8

The City of Lawrence/Douglas County Household Hazardous Waste Facility will reopen its Product Reuse Store and resume Business Hazardous Waste Operations by appointment only beginning June 8.

The facility, which moved to an appointment-only operation for its hazardous waste drop-off operations, will also move to appointment-only operations for its Product Reuse Store. The product reuse store will be open during the same hours as the hazardous waste drop-off operations, Tuesday-Thursday from 8:30 a.m. – 1 p.m.

Only Lawrence and Douglas County residents are eligible to use the drop-off and product reuse store, and must sign up for an appointment by visiting lawrenceks.org/swm/hhw. Prior to signing up for an appointment, residents must read through the facility’s guidelines. Residents who have issues setting an appointment online can call 785-832-3036 for assistance. Appointments will be 15-minute time slots, late arrivals may be subject to cancellation and rescheduling.

Businesses wishing to utilize the Household Hazardous Waste Facility must call 785-832-3032 to set up an appointment. There is a fee for this service based on the materials and disposal amounts.

Customers utilizing the Household Hazardous Waste Facility are encouraged to wear a face covering and follow the CDC’s recommendations for Protecting Yourself & Others.
