Third City of Lawrence Employee Tests Positive for COVID-19

Porter ArneillCity, Municipal Services and Operations

The City of Lawrence became aware today that a third City employee has tested positive for COVID-19. This case involves an employee from our Municipal Services & Operations Department whose position does not involve contact with the public.

This is the third City employee to test positive for COVID-19. While this case also involves an employee from the Municipal Services & Operations department, it is a separate case from the positive case the City reported yesterday.

The employee and City staff have been working with Lawrence-Douglas County Public Health to conduct contact tracing and notify all those who may have come into contact with the employee.

This scenario was determined to be “low risk to exposure” for the majority of City employees. The City will continue to work with Lawrence-Douglas County Public Health throughout this situation and follow their recommendations.  It is both our plan and desire to keep a safe work environment for everyone, and we will continue putting our best efforts toward this goal.

The City will continue to share public information related to coronavirus (COVID-19) on our website: lawrenceks.org/coronavirus. The Douglas County Coronavirus Response Hub has the most up-to-date county-wide coronavirus information, including health orders and guidance from Lawrence-Douglas County Public Health: douglascountyks.org/coronavirus.
