Summer Playgrounds extended through August

Lawrence Parks and Recreation Department’s licensed drop-in program, Summer Playgrounds, is being extended throughout the month of August.

Summer Playgrounds is open to children ages five years-old to 12 years-old and is licensed through the Kansas Department of Health and Environment as a drop-in program. Kids will participate in a variety of activities, games and programs throughout the camp.

Summer Playgrounds will be held: 8:30 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. Monday-Friday, Aug.10-14;  Monday-Friday, Aug. 17-21 and Monday-Friday, Aug.24-28 at South Park, 1141 Massachusetts St. Cost is $100 for each weekly session, per child.

Lunch is not provided, so children must bring a sack lunch.

Registration is available online at: http://lprd.org/activity?n=325302 or at the Parks and Recreation Administrative Offices in South Park, 1141 Massachusetts St. or The Indoor Aquatic Center, 4706 Overland Drive.  Currently all other facilities are currently closed and are unavailable to process enrollments.
