City Compost Facility to reinstate charges for product drop-off & pick up

Kevin PowellCity, Municipal Services and Operations, Solid Waste

Beginning Saturday, August 8, the City of Lawrence Compost Facility will reinstate charges for product drop-off and pick up.

Lawrence residents will be able to continue to use the Compost Facility during normal operation hours (Saturdays from 9 a.m. – 3 p.m., March through mid-December), but the City will reinstate the nominal fees associated with each product/service.

Charges for utilizing the Compost Facility for yard waste drop-offs start at $5 for small loads. Larger loads may cost more. Compost and woodchips will now cost $10 per truckload. Small quantities of compost and woodchips less than or equal to four five-gallon buckets are still free.

Additionally, the City-load events on September 5 and October 3 will cost $10 per scoop from the City’s loading equipment for both compost and woodchips.

The Compost Facility is a cash-only facility. Residents are asked to bring exact change. No bills larger than $20 will be accepted.
