Two City employees test positive for COVID-19
The City of Lawrence learned late last week that two additional City employees tested positive for COVID-19. One employee works in the Police Department and the other in the Parks and Recreation Department. (The two cases are unrelated.)
City staff have been working with Lawrence-Douglas County Public Health to conduct contact tracing and notify all those who may have come into contact with these employees. The City will continue to work with Lawrence-Douglas County Public Health throughout this situation and follow their recommendations. It is both our plan and desire to keep a safe work environment for everyone, and we will continue putting our best efforts toward this goal.
There have now been five full-time City employees who have tested positive for COVID-19. These two are the only cases that are active at this time.
The City will continue to share public information related to coronavirus (COVID-19) on our website: lawrenceks.org/coronavirus. The Douglas County Coronavirus Response Hub has the most up-to-date county-wide coronavirus information, including health orders and guidance from Lawrence-Douglas County Public Health: douglascountyks.org/coronavirus.
