Review and Approval of the 2021 Unified Planning Work Program (UPWP)

Kevin PowellCity, Metropolitan Planning Organization

The UPWP is a federally required document that describes how the federal planning funds allocated to the Lawrence-Douglas County Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO) will be used and what planning activities the MPO staff and its consultants will undertake during the upcoming program year. This document also describes the MPO accomplishments from the current year. Approval of this 2021 UPWP by the end of 2020 is needed in order to avoid a disruption in the use of federal funds by the MPO.

The official 30-day comment period for this Draft 2021 UPWP will start on September 30 and will end on October 30, 2020. This UPWP will come before the Lawrence-Douglas County Metropolitan Planning Organization for approval at their November 19, 2020 meeting. Public Comments received will be reported and considered by the MPO Policy Board where decisions pertaining to revision of this document will be made prior to final approval.

The draft UPWP will be available for public review online at: https://lawrenceks.org/mpo/upwp; paper copies are available for review at Lawrence City Hall Riverfront – Planning & Development Services Office (1 Riverfront Plaza, Suite 320) from 8 am to 4 pm, Lecompton City Hall, Baldwin City Public Library, Eudora City Hall, and Lawrence Public Library.
