Timeline altered for construction at 21st & Massachusetts

Kevin PowellCity, Construction, Municipal Services and Operations

Due to weather and other construction-related delays, the timeline has changed for the 21st Street and Massachusetts Street project to add a pedestrian hybrid beacon.

21st Street from Vermont Street to Massachusetts Street will now be closed through at least November 6. Massachusetts Street’s southbound lane will be reduced to one lane between 20th Street and 21st Street during the same period.

Additional lane closures of southbound Massachusetts Street from 20th Street to 21st Street and northbound Massachusetts Street from 22nd Street to 21st Street will occur during regular working hours (weekdays, 7 a.m. – 6 p.m.) as needed once the first phase of the project is completed. A closure of 21st Street from Massachusetts Street to New Hampshire Street will also occur in November. More details will be provided when dates are finalized.

Traffic control will be in place, and suggested detours will be marked.

Updates will be provided as necessary. All project timelines are subject to change due to weather and other project-related delays. For more information on construction projects and traffic alterations in Lawrence, visit lawrenceks.org/construction.
