Prior to the Industrial Revolution, yarn was spun with a spinning wheel; before the spinning wheel, thousands of years ago, yarn was spun by hand and it remains a popular handicraft to this day.
In Handspinning, participants will make a simple drop spindle and learn to prep, card and spin sheep’s wool into yarn. Participants will leave the class with their own ball of yarn to use in knitting, crochet, weaving, or other crafts.
Class will be held 1:30–3:30 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 21, at Prairie Park Nature Center, 2730 Harper St. Cost is $15 and includes all materials needed for the class.
