Learn techniques of self-defense with LPRD’s Ki-Aikido

Lawrence Parks and Recreation Department is holding winter martial arts class that can be practiced by everyone.

Ki-Aikido is a martial arts class meant to be practiced by people of all ages and levels of physical fitness, as a recreational activity of serious study. Benefits from this course include discipline, concentration, techniques of self-defense and increased physical fitness.

The program is divided up into age categories. For children eight years-old to 12 year-old, class will be held 5:30-6:30 p.m. Mondays and Wednesdays, Feb. 1-March 3, at the Community Building, 115 West 11th St. Cost is $36 per student.

For participants 13 years-old and older, class will be held 6:45-8:15 p.m. Mondays and Wednesdays, Feb. 1-March 3, at the Community Building. Cost is $54 per student.

This program requires face coverings to be worn at all times and follows COVID-19 safety guidelines, which can be found at https://assets.lawrenceks.org/lprd/covid/Fitnessmartialarts.pdf.

Conditions will be continuously monitored and reviewed in consultation with public health professionals. Status updates will continue to be updated every Thursday to indicate the current risk level using green, yellow, orange or red based on the number of new cases, trends and percentage of positive COVID-19 test to mirror Lawrence-Douglas County Health’s recommendations being used for the Smart and Safe School Reopening Guidelines and Status for county schools.
