Extreme weather affecting trash and recycling collection

With the extremely cold temperatures and snow & ice accumulation, the Solid Waste Division (SWD) is encountering equipment and logistical challenges that will affect solid waste pick up for some as follows:

  • TRASH: SWD was able to complete Monday trash collection routes for both commercial and residential customers with a few exceptions due to steep, snowy roads in these residential areas ― households on Fox Fire Drive cul-de-sac, Kingsmill Road to Burning Tree Drive and Burning Tree Court cul-de-sac, and Stoneback Place cul-de-sac.
    • SWD will return to service the households in these cul-de-sacs when the roads are cleared of snow and ice.
  • RECYCLING: SWD was not able to complete all Monday recycling collection routes for residential customers. The area completed is NW corner of the city – Eldridge Drive to the west edge between 6th Street and the north edge. The area that was not completed is Kasold Drive to Eldridge Drive between 6th Street and the north edge.
    • Residential recycling routes will be delayed by one day this week. SWD will complete Monday residential recycling routes on Tuesday, Tuesday on Wednesday, Wednesday on Thursday, Thursday on Friday, and Friday on Saturday.
  • CARDBOARD RECYCLING: SWD was not able to run the Monday cardboard recycling route for commercial customers.
    • SWD will go back to service the Monday cardboard recycling dumpsters on Tuesday and Wednesday this week.
  • BULK ITEMS: Bulk item (appliances, large furniture, etc.) collection will be suspended for the remainder of the week, February 15-19.
    • SWD will schedule bulk item pickups for next week, February 22-26.
  • YARD WASTE: Reminder that yard waste collection is suspended for this week, February 15-19.
    • SWD will resume yard waste collection on Monday, February 22.
