Beginning Monday, Feb. 22, an Evergy power line relocation project will necessitate traffic alterations on 13th Street between Jayhawk Boulevard and Kentucky Street.

Evergy’s project will have a phased traffic control approach. Phase 1 will close 13th Street between Louisiana Street and Tennessee Street. Cross traffic at Ohio Street will still be allowed.

13th Street between Louisiana Street and Tennessee Street will remain closed for Phase 2, and the east portion of 13th Street between Jayhawk Boulevard and Louisiana Street will also be closed. Cross traffic at Louisiana Street will still be allowed.

Phase 2 closures will remain in place during Phase 3 of the work, and the western half of 13th Street between Tennessee Street and Kentucky Street will also be closed to through traffic. Additionally, Tennessee Street will be reduced to one lane at the 13th Street intersection during this phase.

All closures will occur between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. The project is expected to last three weeks, weather permitting.

Transit routes 10, 11, 29 and 43 will be affected during Phases 2 & 3 of this project. Routes will continue on Oread Avenue, right on 12th Street, left on Louisiana and the back on route. For more information on re-routes, visit lawrencetransit.org.
