Lawrence Parks and Recreation Department is helping to distinguish the Sounds of Spring with a program at Prairie Park Nature Center, 2730 W. Harper St.

Sounds of Spring: The Call of Frogs and Toads is open to those 10 years-old and older and provides the opportunity for participants to take a hike with Keith Coleman, author of Calls of Kansas Frogs and Toads. Coleman will help to identify the spring amphibians and learn the difference in the calls of toads, tree frogs and leopard frogs.  Children under 15 years-old must have a accompanied registered adult.

Conditions will be continuously be monitored and reviewed in consultation with public health professionals. Status updates will continue to be updated every Thursday to indicate the current risk level using green, yellow, orange or red based on the number of new cases, trends and percentage of positive COVID-19 test to mirror Lawrence-Douglas County Health’s recommendations being used for the Smart and Safe School Reopening Guidelines and Status for county schools.
