Celebrate Mother’s Day at Prairie Park Nature Center

Kevin PowellCity, Parks & Recreation

Lawrence Parks and Recreation Department is hosting a free program for the public this Mother’s Day.

Wildlife Moms allows guests to learn how wild animal mothers care for their young. Myths will be debunked and secrets of motherhood in the wild will be revealed in this hour-long free program.

Wildlife Moms is an all-ages program open to the public. It will be held 1:30-2:30 p.m. Sunday, May 9, at Prairie Park Nature Center, 2730 Harper St.

This program requires guests five years-old and older to wear face coverings at all times and follows COVID-19 safety guidelines, which can be found at https://assets.lawrenceks.org/lprd/covid/centers.pdf.

Conditions will be continuously monitored and reviewed in consultation with public health professionals. Status updates will continue to be updated every Thursday to indicate the current risk level using green, yellow, orange or red based on the number of new cases, trends and percentage of positive COVID-19 test to mirror Lawrence-Douglas County Health’s recommendations being used for the Smart and Safe School Reopening Guidelines and Status for county schools. Individuals may find the current status by visiting the department website or the department social media platforms, Twitter and Facebook.
