Embrace green hiking with Leave No Trace

Kevin PowellCity, Parks & Recreation

Prairie Park Nature Center is hosting a weekend program to educate adults and families about a greener style of camping and hiking.

Leave No Trace gives those ages seven years-old and up the opportunity to learn about wilderness ethics promoted by the U.S. Forest Service and to “leave only footprints” the next time they go camping or hiking. This program can also be used to qualify for a scout badge.

This program is offered from 1-2:30 p.m. Saturday, May 8, at Prairie Park Nature Center, 2730 Harper St. Cost is $7 per person.
